Advance setup of CC1200 (AGC_CFG)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1190, CC1200

Hi everybody,

I’m working on two boards, one with a single CC1200 and another with a CC1200 and a PA, the CC1190.

My basic configuration is:

Baud rate: 9600bps

Carrier Frequency: 868MHz

Deviation: 2.4 kHz

Modulation format: 2-GFSK

RX Filter Bandwidth: 25 252Hz

I have some trouble with the advance setup of the CC1200:

-          How should set the Cut-off frequency of the high pass DC filter in the DCFILT_CFG register?

-          Should I limit the minimum and maximum gain on the AGC in the AGC_CFG3/2 registers?

-          How could I calculate the intermediate frequency configuration in the IF_MIX_CFC register?

I know the setup will be different because I’m using a PA.

Thanks in advance

Grégory

  • The IF and DC filter should not be changed even if you use CC1200 with CC11190.

You can also keep the AGC settings, but for improved blocking you can adjust AGC_REFERENCE and max AGC gain.

    1) Start with the settings provided by SmartRF Studio.

    2) Measure sensitivity with lower values of max gain. Choose a lower max gain that gives the same sensitivity as the Studio setting (if available)

    3) Next, use the new max gain setting and try with lower values of AGC_REFERENCE. Select AGC_REFERENCE that does not degraded sensitivity and do not give any packet loss across the input dynamic range (i.e. you need to measure from sensitivity limit up to saturation level)

  • thanks a lot for very quick answer,
    for the point 1), from which setting should I start ? 1.2kbps, 2-FSK, 12.5kHz Channel spacing (868MHz) or 38.4kbps, 2-GFSK, RX BW 100kHz, ETSI Standard (868MHz).

    Regards
