433Mhz Design

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1310

Dear All,

I need to build a Wireless sensor network and I planning to use SimpleLink CC1x microcontroller.

Where should I start for design and is it possible to use PCB antenna on it?

What should I do for long battery life? (ex: 2-3 year battery life)

Thanks for reply

Best Regards.

  • I assume you mean the CC1310?
If yes, I recommend downloading the latest version of TI-RTOS. Within TI-RTOS we have included examples that range from a simple "send a tone" example to more complex network related examples with a nodes and concentrator.

It's fully possible to reach 2-3 year battery life. The battery life is largely dependent on the time the radio is in Rx or Tx so you have to design the system to send data with large enough intervals. Typically you can send one packet every minute and then the radio will be in SLEEP 99.9% of the time giving a very low average current consumption.

Yes, it's possible to use a PCB antenna, one option is the antenna used on this board: www.ti.com/.../cc110lem-433-rd
