Data transfer in asynchronous mode from CC1101

I am newbie here!

We want to use CC1101 in asynchronous mode for a Keeloq transmitter. Just wanted to confirm that in this mode, data transfer is via SPI or any other general purpose pins are required along with SPI?

- You need the SPI interface to set the registers and to send command strobes to the radio.
- When you use asynchronous mode you will in addition need to use a GDO pin for the serial data you want to send/ receive, see section 27.1 in the datasheet.

Is it necessary to use asynchronous mode for Keeloq? I am asking because we just want to use SPI for communicating without using GDO.

Can we use synchronous mode for Keeloq? If yes, I hope communication is only through SPI.

Yes, it looks like async is required, see e2e.ti.com/.../148027 for register settings. For async mode you need one pin in addition to the SPI interface since the data you send received is on a GDO and not available through SPI.
