Some questions on high speed mode in CC1310

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1310, CC2650

Hello TI employees.

Our company is developing RF transceiver using CC1310.

While using HSM of CC1310, some questions were arised.

It would be appreciated if anyone could answer the questions.

Here are the questions.

1. What's the modulation scheme of HSM?

2. Does HSM adopt channel coding? If so, then what scheme is used?

3. How much overhead(includig syncword and preamble) is included in the HSM?

4. Regarding the receiver sensitity, I have confirmed that the sensitivity level is -84dBm in this forum.

But I couldn't see the BER which resulted in -84dBm. I want to know the specification on the receiver sensitivity of HSM.

5. Does TI support the HSM in RF studio? If so, I want to know the approximate schedule of the software release.

6. I heard that the 1.6Mbps example using 4FSK scheme is possilbe in this forum.

See below link.

https://e2e.ti.com/support/wireless_connectivity/proprietary_sub_1_ghz_simpliciti/f/156/t/541825

If this is true, Can I get the example code?

I am sorry that there are a little bit many questions but please let me know the answers.

Thank you in advance.

  • Sukneung Bae,

    Answers inline:

    1. What's the modulation scheme of HSM?

    • 4mbps on CC1310 is 8FSK.
    • 1.5mbps on CC1310 is 4FSK
    • 1.0mbps on CC1310 is 2FSK
    • 5.0mbps on CC2650 is 8FSK
    • 2.0mbps on CC2650 is 2FSK
    • 1.0mbps on CC2650 is 2FSK

    2. Does HSM adopt channel coding? If so, then what scheme is used?

    • 4mbps on CC1310 is coded using FEC and Viterbi decoder. The effective data rate is 4.0mbps the over-the-air is higher.
    • 1.5mbps on CC1310 is un-coded
    • 1.0mbps on CC1310 is un-coded
    • 5.0mbps on CC2650 is is coded using FEC and Viterbi decoder. The effective data rate is 4.0mbps the over-the-air is higher.
    • 2.0mbps on CC2650 is un-coded
    • 1.0mbps on CC2650 is un-coded

    3. How much overhead(includig syncword and preamble) is included in the HSM?

    • 32 bits of preamble and 32 bits of sync word is required and this is transmitted in 2FSK mode only, so therefore it effectively becomes more bits in 4 and 8FSK.

    4. Regarding the receiver sensitity, I have confirmed that the sensitivity level is -84dBm in this forum.

    • Yes, that is correct.

But I couldn't see the BER which resulted in -84dBm. I want to know the specification on the receiver sensitivity of HSM.

    • 1% BER

    5. Does TI support the HSM in RF studio? If so, I want to know the approximate schedule of the software release.

    • Not yet, but it will be included in an upcoming version. However the Patches required for TIRTOS to work at these data rates is included in the latest TI-RTOS bundle and the PER example code shows how to use it.

    6. I heard that the 1.6Mbps example using 4FSK scheme is possilbe in this forum.

    • Yes, that is correct, but we have de-tuned it to run at 1.5mbps maximum. This is not released yet.

    See below link.

If this is true, Can I get the example code?

    • Please start with the HSM and the PER example code in TIRTOS, then as soon as we are ready we will push a new update with the 1.5mbps mode included to the web.

  • THANK YOU!!. It was very helpful.
