CC1101: Low power RX with CC1101

Part Number: CC1101

Hi,

I want to put CC1101 in RX mode with minimum low power consumption (I know I need to use WOR) What is the minimum power consumption that can be achieved with CC1101?

Thx

  • Hi

In Sleep stat with the RC osc running (WOR mode) the CC1101 is using 0.5 uA. The current consumption in RX mode is 14.3 – 16.5 mA depending on the data rate (these numbers are stated in the data sheet).
You will also have additional current consumption in the period where the radio transitions from SLEEP to RX (crystal startup + synth calibration). Please see http://www.ti.com/lit/swra126.
The minimum power consumption in WOR mode depends on how long you SLEEP compared to how long you configure the radio to stay in RX.

  • Hi Siri,

Assuming I want to catch any transmission, isn't it depend on the preamble length (which is the maximum time I can sleep)?
  • If you do not have a time synchronous system it is the preamble length of the transmitter that sets the SLEEP interval on the receiver.
