CC1350STK: CC1350STKUS - Altium files

Part Number: CC1350STK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1350

Hello Support,

I am trying to import the design files for the Simplelink CC1350 SensorTag Bluetooth and Sub-1GHz Long Range Wireless Development Kit into Altium.

The Allegro schematic .DSN imports but the PCB (.BRD) does not import unless you have a copy of  Allegro which I dont'.

Would it be possible for someone to save the Allegro PCB to a .ALG file.  I believe I can import this type of file?

Regards Dean.

  • Hi Dean,

We can only save as *.BRD file format in Allegro today.

There should be layout conversion programs available from Allegro to Altium.

    Regards,

       Richard

  • More info on file conversion: techdocs.altium.com/.../Moving to Altium Designer from Cadence Allegro PCB Editor

USING ASCII CONVERSION TO IMPORT WITHOUT ALLEGRO
An Altium Designer workstation that does not have a licensed Allegro installation is able to import Allegro ASCII Extract files (*.alg). The following procedure enables a Licensed Allegro user to convert Allegro binary *.brd files to Altium compatible *.alg files. The conversion must be run on the Allegro licensed machine.

Locate the following two files in the \System folder of your Altium Designer installation (Summer 08 or later):
    Allegro2Altium.bat
    AllegroExportViews.txt
Copy the two files to the folder containing the *.brd binary Allegro version 15.2 or 16 file.
Open a command prompt, navigate to the folder containing these files and type the following: Allegro2Altium your_file.brd
Surround your filename with double quotes if the filename contains spaces, i.e.: Allegro2Altium "your file.brd"
The ASCII file is now created in the folder. Copy the *.alg file to the Altium Designer workstation, Summer 08 (Version 7) or higher, and import using the Import Wizard.
  • Hello Richard,

I have read the above statement and it is a little misleading. In order to import the Allegro PCB files into Altium I need a .alg file (ASCII type format). I need this because I dont own a copy of Allegro. If I did I would be able to import the .brd file.

The only way I can get an .alg file is if someone exports this from Allegro. Allegro should be able save (or export) the PCB as a .alg file.

I would appreciate it greatly if you could give it a go.

    Regards,

    Dean

  • I can't see a export to .alg option in allegro.
  • Hello Richard,
It is actually the person who owns the Allegro licence that needs to run the procedure you posted on the 30th May.
You just need these two files:
    Allegro2Altium.bat
    AllegroExportViews.txt
I have put them up on the following google drive
    drive.google.com/open
    drive.google.com/open

You need to put the two files into the directory with the .brd file and run the command line as described in the 30th May post.
This will then create the .alg file which hopefully you can send to me.

I hope you can give this a go.

    Regards,
    Dean
  • Hello Richard,

Did you see my last response? Are you able to try this for us.
