RTOS/CC1310: sending 10kbps in 5kbps long range mode

Hi all,

I need to send data in 10kbps. But i also need long range. I thought about using 5kbps, SimpleLink Long Range mode.

Q1: If i change its data rate from 5kbps to 10kbps, is this mode remain still long range? (i should also changed its deviation and rx bw filter)

Q2: Which mode can you suggest to me for sending 10kbps data for best range?

    What is difference between long range mode and normal 10kbps mode? What makes this mode "long range"?
  • The Long Range mode uses DSSS and FEC to increase sensitivity in addition to make the link more robust. By using coding the over the air symbol rate is higher than the throughput datarate. On CC1310 the minimum RXBW is fairly high (~39 kbps) meaning for low datarates increasing the signal bandwidth can be done without increasing the RXBW.

    But for 10 kbps LRM the over the air symbol rate is 40 kbps meaning that the signal bandwidth increases requiring a higher RXBW. For this setting the sensitivity for the 10 kbps setting in SmartRF Studio will be close to the same as 10 kbps LRM. (without FEC the link will be less robust)
