CC1120: LNA Information & TX/RX switch

Part Number: CC1120

Hi,

I am currently implementing the CC1120 into a CubeSat communication system and I was looking into the datasheet but could not find any information regarding the Noise Figure and Gain of the CC1120 LNA ?
Also, regarding pin 18 (the TRX switch), how can one select either the RX or TX mode, because all reference designs of the CC1120 look the same when it comes to pin 18 configuration.

Thanks,
Walid

  • The CC1120 LNA has a NF equal to around 7 (don't know the gain)

The TRX switch is a large NMOS on the chip that pulls the pin low in TX and is high impedant in RX.
  • Perfect thank you.
How about the gain ? Is there any way I can get its value ? It is necessary for our link budget calculations.

  • The LNA has approx 20 dB gan. Not sure how the LNA gain comes into your link budget calculations. Only thing I can think of is the if you add an external LNA to improve the cascaded noise figure, but then only the CC1120 NF and not the LNA gain comes into the calcualtions.
