CC1120: Problem with CC1120 PARTVERSION 0x23

Hi,

Our customer's application was successfully into mass production
with older versions of CC1120(PARTVERSION 0x21).
Currently, they are into mass production with the latest PARTVERSION 0x23.

But, after installing 0x23 version, sometimes the chip stops enter into TX mode
with trxSpiCmdStrobe(CC112X_STX) command, there is no carrier output also.
there was no problem with 0x21 version till now.

Please let me know if there is any advice on where should we
look into to resolve the issue.

    Hi Kummi

    There are no differences between the revisions that can explain what you are seeing.

    Can you try to debug some more so we have more to work with? How often do this happen? On how many devices?

    What does MARCSTATE report when the chip is stuck? What is the status byte when sending the STX strobe that fails?

    Thank you very much for the reply.

    After some debugging, we found that it was the problem with software.
    Our customer's application was using a custom routine for the VCO calibration.
    They were not aware of the errata. They were able to solve it with the software modification.

    Not sure I follow. The manual calibration described in the errata that is needed for version 0x21 will also work for 0x23, even if it is not necessary on 0x23 (on this rev. you can use autocal.)

    Hi Siri,

    I am sorry that we don't have the complete inforamtion.
    It seems the customer was using their custom routine for Calibration.
    And that routine caused more delay which in turn effected the setup time of CC1120.

    OK. Glad they were able to sort it out and hope they follow the errata for the calibration on the 0x21 devices.
