CC1350: How much flexibility do I have to configure pins?

Part Number: CC1350

Hi everybody,

First of all, I'm not sure if I chose the right forum as my issue is related to HW architecture.

I'm designing a smart sensor using a CC1350 MCU and I'm not clear about the granularity of the chip in order to configure different functionalities on each pin. For instance, can I use DIO30 as a ADC pin and D29 as a digital out pin even though both pins belong to the group of pins connected to the sensor controller? Is there any restriction of how to configure the DIO pins beside the fact that AUX interfaces have specific group of available pins? Also, can any pin be routed to the AON fabric? I read chapter 11 of SWCU117H and it looks like there are no such restrictions, but I wanted to double check before continuing with the HW design. Thanks!

  • Fernando,

This is very good question and we get it a lot. The device is very flexible, but not 100%. The restrictions are mostly around the analog capable pins for the ADC and the sensor controller subsystem. The digital IO can be placed anywhere, but some of the digital pins can drive more or less current. The best chart for this information is found in the user guide on page 998

Here you can see highlighted in orange and green the special pins and then the rest are general purpose.

    I hope this helps.
