CC1312R: product availability

Part Number: CC1312R
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1310,

Hi TI,

After receiving information about the new CC1312R micro controller, I started doubting our choice of the CC1310.
We want to upgrade/replace our ultra-low-power track-and-trace system, which currently works with the CC430 (multiple years of effective lifetime on a coin cell).
Since the design of the hardware and software has still to be started, we are still capable to design for the optimum.

So our questions are:
1.   Would the CC13x0 or CC13x2R be more applicable for extreme low power conditions (several years of effective lifetime from a coin-cell)
2.   Will the price difference between the 2 microprocessors be significant (>10% price difference in our case)
3.   And most importantly: will the CC13x0 remain in production when the new CC13x2R is operational?

regards,

Wouter

  • 1) The current consumption for the two devices are close to equal. Please see the datasheets for details.
    2) I'm not able to comment on price in detail. CC13x2 will cost more due to increased memory and more features. The sample prices in store.ti.com gives an indication.
    3) CC13x0 and CC13x2 will both be in production for many years to come.
