Hi,

Both TI-15-4-STACK-GATEWAY-LINUX-SDK and tidep0084

What's the difference between these two packages ?

For example, in /collector/appsrv.c, two packages use different ways to exchange data between collector and gateway appsrv client.

Besides, source code update are inconsistent.

The latest TI-15-4-STACK-GATEWAY-LINUX-SDK is version 2.05.00.11 released on 18 Apr 2018, while the latest update of tidep0084 is still on March 05 2018.

I am wondering to know which package is officially maintained by TI ?

Hi Kevin,

TI-15-4-STACK-GATEWAY-LINUX-SDK implements a Sub-1 GHz wireless network Linux gateway and also supports the 2.4 GHz band. This is compared to the TI-RTOS-based Sensor to Cloud IoT solution offered by TIDEP0084. I will loop in the TI Design authors for further information.

As I know, both are officially maintained by TI. However, it might take a while to update to www.ti.com/.../tidep0084 after latest TI-15-4-STACK-GATEWAY-LINUX-SDK release.

Hi,

Both are maintained by TI but tidep0084 usually lags behind by 1 SDK version. The main difference between these 2 is that tidep0084 provides support for connecting with the cloud(IBM Cloud or AWS IoT ) out of the box and the TI-15-4-STACK-GATEWAY-LINUX-SDK is what you would use if you don't need cloud connectivity or if you want to build your own implementation for connecting to the cloud from the ground up.

Hi Hector,

In TI-15-4-STACK-GATEWAY-LINUX-SDK, google protobuf is used to pack messages, but it is not the case in tidep0084.

Is there any design consideration behind ?

Yes, the main reason why protobuf was removed from tidep0084 was to make it easier for developers to add new sensors support to the sensor to cloud design.
