CC1310: BATMON Sensor :- Temperature Value

Hi all,

I'm using CC1310 chipset. I log the BATMON sensor reading from mqtt client in contiki ng. From the result, the Voltage value is perfect.But the Temperature value is totally mismatch.

1) Is any calibration need to get the perfect value??? if so, any documents available.

2) on which factor the read logged?? External temperature or the internal chipset temperature..

I would suggest you to use external temperature sensor instead of BATMON sensor reading

Please also post the code you have used to read the temperature.

The mismatch value mean that the vale from the BATMON sensor is not in the range of accuracy .
Eg:-
Node 1 : BATMON Sensor value : 63 degree . But the reading from the Infrared thermometer is 35 degree.
Node 2 : BATMON Sensor value : 39 degree. But the reading from the Infrared thermometer is 28 degree.

Using external temperature sensor, it can be more accurate and no need for calibration if you choose correct one.

As per the datasheet the accuracy of ±5 °C is suitable for my application .

For node 2: Is the chip hot to touch (indicating internal heating?

No the chip is not too hot. I'm placing the Node's in outdoor. The Source code : "github.com/.../batmon-sensor.c"

Ok, looks like you are running Contiki NG directly.

I haven't seen any other customers that has had any issues with the accuracy on the temperature readings and I can't see why you should have an issue. Just as a test, would you be able to use one of the examples from the SDK and add the driver lib function directly (dev.ti.com/.../ ) to see if you get the same result? Also it would be practical to place the node on a location with the controlled temperature.
