Hi team,

Please evaluate if below use case can be achieved based on TI 15.4 Stack. And provide suggestion . Thank you.

Environment: one Collector, 100 nodes deployed in square space of 50m x 50m .
Requirement: Node will regularly send data of 20-bytes payload to Collector.
Collector need to collect all the 100 nodes' data (at least once from each node) in 100 ms.

Hi Jerry,

in what frequency band is this expected to operate at? 2.4GHz or sub 1 GHz?

100 nodes' 20 bytes data (at least once from each node) in 100 ms means 100x20x10x8=160,000 bps and I think this is higher than TI 15.4 Stack subG Hz data rate.

Hi Hector,
It doesn't mater with 2.4GHz or sub1G. The TI 15.4 Stack can support up to 200 Kbps at 868/915 MHz.

Yes, it won't be feasible to make it after considering some overhead with TI 15.4 Stack.

The only way that 15.4 stack might get close to working with these requierements will be using 2.4GHz PHY which has a data rate of 250kbps and also they will have to disable security to remove some of the packet overhead in the security header.

Regardless of this, this kind of use case is not recommended since it is so close to the limits of the data rate in 15.4 and might cause the network to not be stable specially since there is no room for error.

Hi Hector,

What about the non beacon mode with 200Kbps 868MHz? Most likely the application is sensor to gateway to collecting sensor data, no need to talk to sensor from Gateway side, but require to get all/100 nodes the sensor data update within 100ms.

Gary Lin I think this is not related to beacon or non-beacon mode. The max data rate of sub GHz 15.4 stack is 150 kbps and that's the barrier.

Ideally for an application like this you would want beacon mode but regardless of beacon and non beacon this will not be possible to do with 200kbps
