LAUNCHXL-CC1350: SimpleLink Academy docs must be corrected - python tools for OAD image build no longer exist!

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-CC1350
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1350, SIMPLICITI

Ti Friends!

SimpleLink Academy docs must be corrected. New to the CC1350, I'd been diligently following Project0 instructions on TiRex. No good!

The tools referenced in those docs - python tools to consolidate/convert images, etc. - no longer exist on GitHub.

Post here seems to be on point for course correction (with thanks to poster):

Really, apart from building an understanding of the whole Image/OAD foodchain, I'd like to revert the board to its out-of-box state. We wish to duplicate the entire firmware update process ground-up.

Again, lots of time wasted (by a motivated experimenter) just to get to the proverbial Square One.

  • In fact, while we're on it: Project0 docs refer to rfWsnDmMode in CCS - to which project in the revised SDK should this refer? There are several similarly-named projects.

Are all of the other steps - copying various configuration files, etc. - still on point?

For the noob, the question would be: Is the roadmap the same now that the build instructions are clearly out-of-sync with current SDK?

  • Hi LouEEE,

Thank you for pointing out the documentation disconnect.
Which SDK are you referring to? rfWsnDmNode is a project that is no longer supported but was part of the SDK in one of the early versions. The project in the SDK should also have a README.md file. If you are having trouble with the SimpleLink Academy you should refer to this as it is updated based on that SDK release. Similarly, there is a User's Guide for OAD with each SDK. I have added the link for the latest SDK User's Guide for EasyLink OAD. The rfWsnDmNode is most closely related to the rfWsnNode for CC13x0 and the rfWsnNodeBleAdv for CC13x2 devices.

I hope this helps you get the correct configuration and steps.
