CC85XXDK-HEADSET: achieve 50m communication distance?

Dear TI Experts,

My customer is evaluating CC8530 with 2pcs  CC85XXDK-HEADSET. They found that the EVM's communication distance is only about 20~30m. They've tried to raise the supply voltage from 2.15V to 3.3V, change SDK to B version from A version, however, the communication distance only got a lillte improvement. They measured the output power from EVM, it is around 10dbm. Could you kindly advise how to improve the communication distance to 50m based on TI's CC85XXDK-HEADSET EVM? Thanks a lot. Once achieve 50m in EVM, they will build their own CC8530+CC2590 board.

    Dear Bruce,

    Have you seen the RF Range Estimator Excel tool? With this you can estimate expected range based on you setup. CC85xx is not included in this tool but you can use CC26xx - 5 Mbps (Propritary) as chip and datarate.

    To get better range you need to increase your link budget. Two ways to do that is to increasing the output power or use antennas with better gain. Note that there are regulations on the maximum output power and it varies depending on where in the world the application will be used.
