CC1352R: Dual Antennas

Part Number: CC1352R
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LAUNCHXL-CC1350,

The CC1352x seems to have removed the need for an external RF switch like the XMSSJE3G0PA-003 that was used on the LAUNCHXL-CC1350 by providing physically separate differential RF ports for 2.4GHz and Sub-gigahertz on the chip, is there any issue with having antennas connected to both ports at all times?

The radio core can only actually send/receive a packet on one port at a time correct?

  • Hi Devin,

Your observation is correct, and it is possible to have dedicated antennas for the two frequency bands. Another way to go is to combine the two paths to a single dual band antenna as on the LAUNCHXL-CC1352R1. That board is currently using a SPDT switch, but the next revision will replace this with a passive diplexer.

The radio core can only operate at a single frequency at a time.

    Regards,
    Fredrik
