LAUNCHXL-CC1310: Murata 0402 Capacitors "Not For New Designs"

The LAUNCHXL-CC1310 and LAUNCHXL-CC1350 designs both use Murata 0402 capacitors in the Balun / Filter / Antenna Match part of the schematic. I recently noticed that those capacitors are marked as "Not For New Designs" on Digi-Key. My question is can we just change to 0201 caps in our designs but keep the same values? It seems like we could, but I wanted to play it safe and ask.

Hello Devin,

With different form factor, parasitics are different and the component impedance characteristics can be different too. It is OK to have 0201 caps for antenna matching but the component value may need tweaking for optimum performance.

Should we expect comparable performance of the Balun circuit with 0201 components, or should we really tweak those values?

Alternatively, it looks like the Murata GJM series 0402 caps should be good for use in new designs. Would those be drop-in replacements in the RF section?

With either of the above options, some tweaking may be necessary but the performance should be very similar provided that the layout does not change much.
