CC1101: Isolated Analog and Digital Supply?

Part Number: CC1101

Most of the sub-1GHz CC11xx have separate analog and digital supply pins. My understanding is that these pins supply internal LDOs.

Are there any performance benefits of using a split supply for the analog and digital domains?

i.e., if a single supply is used to feed AVDD and DVDD, can switching noise from the digital domain contaminate the analog domain?

  • Our reference designs and all measurements for the datasheet are done with the same PCB line going to all power pins which means we don't see any benefit from splitting them further. Correctly placed decoupling caps on all power pins will remove noise components that are potentially problematic.
