RTOS/CC1310: Radio tx power setting

Part Number: CC1310

Tool/software: TI-RTOS

Hi,

the smarf rf studio gives me a list of TX power values and settings. I can't find a formula to calculate other TX power settings but I need -3dBm und -20dBm as well.

Best regards

Stefan Hauenstein

  • Hi Stefan,

We don't have a straightforward method to calculate the TX power value as it contains multiple settings; temp. coefficient, gain, bias current and boost bit. If you want to use your own settings, you can read more about how to proceed here: e2e.ti.com/.../612071 (The TRM has been updated since then, the chapter you should look for is 23.3.3.2.16)

Be aware that the relation between gain setting and actual output power is not linear. It is better resolution at higher output power settings than the lowest output power settings, meaning that you will see big variation in output power at the lowest power settings.

    Best regards,
    Simon
  • Hi Simon,

am I right that the TX power cannot be calculated but rather must be measured with try and error?
Don't you have already more power/setting values available?

    Best regards,
    Stefan
  • You have to measure and try. We don't have more power settings than those available in SmartRF Studio.
