CCS/CC1310: LOW POWER ISSUE

When CC1310 is applied into the low-power state, the theoretical turn-off state is 185nA,

while the low-power state can only be achieved to about 1uA when the application program is controlled, and the standby current keeps changing, sometimes reaching about 10uA.

Any procedural tricks? Or does it require special treatment?

Hi Andong,

You need to elaborate what kind of application are you running on the CC1310. Also, how do you measure the current consumption?

Hi Severin,
Thank you for following up.

Running LBT(Listen Before Talk) application on CC1310.

In normal operation, read the temperature data through I2C, then complete the launch, and finally enter the sleep mode for 30 seconds.
Test with an ammeter, the standby current is above 1uA in the sleep mode, and it's constantly changing, the maximum display of multimeter is 5uA, and the minimum display is 0.7ua. The current is always in a state of jump in the whole sleep mode.

Just some clarifications, which SDK version is the LBT example from? Also, have you modified the default LBT example?

2, Yes. I added the I2C program of PIN port simulation and ADC sampling program in the LBT routine (both used for temperature measurement, only one method can be selected).

I tested your LBT_task.c application and measured the current consumption with a power analyzer. I measured a standby current of about 57 nA, which indicates everything looks OK.

Note that I was not able to test your Temperature_Task.c application though, since I'm both missing header files from your project as well as sensors.

My guess is that your power analyzer setup is incorrect. Could it be that the UART RX pin is floating? If you haven't mounted a jumper on the UART RXD pin to the debugger, then do so and redo the measurement.

Hello Severin,

Can you elaborate on why RXD should not be floating? I also observed an extra current consumption in standby mode (around 40uA) because I let RXD floating.

I don't really understand why a pulldown input would induce current consumption if left floating.

Hi hugo,

Sorry for keeping you waiting.

All of our examples have a PIN table which describes pins which will be default configured at each startup. This includes pins for LEDs and serial interfaces such as UART and SPI. This means that the UART RXD pin is by default configured to be pulldown/pullup, unless you comment out this default configuration.

The reason this draws current on the CC1310-LAUNCHXL is because there is a 100 kOhms resistor on the debugger side. If the jumper is not mounted and the RXD pin is configured will result in a current leak.
