CC1310: switching between DC to DC and LDO

Part Number: CC1310

Hi,

We are looking to do some rf performance testing to assess the difference when using the DC-DC converter compared to using the LDO.

In order to speed things up we would like to add debug functionality to allow us to switch between the two power settings at run time.

We have not been able to find an appropriate method for this in the documentation

So far we have two approaches in mind:

    1. Manually alter the CCFG block in internal flash and rebooting (would need to read out block, erase and write back modified block since we want to be able to toggle between modes)
    1. Altering specific registers at run time (We would need TI’s guidance on this)

Option 2 would be our preference (only modifying RAM) as we would not want to risk modifying internal flash.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi Ajayt,

If this is for testing only I would recommend making two different FW images. We do not support run-time switch between LDO and DCDC.

As long as the DCDC layout is ok, there is no noticeable difference in performance between the two regulators.

    Regards,
    Fredrik
