CC1310: OUI(s) used in IEEE MAC addresses

Part Number: CC1310

all my cc1310 devices have a 00-12-4B OUI prefix in their 64-bit MAC addresses; and indeed, this particular OUI is registered with the IEEE (with TI in Oslo as the organization)....

in total, TI has almost 200 *different* OUIs registered with the IEEE....

is it possible to assume that the cc1310 only uses a very limited number of these OUIs????

and if so, would TI be able to publish the prefixes that are actually used with cc1310s during production????

my motive is very simple:  i'd like to compress the 64-bit MAC into a "unique" 48-bit value by mapping the 24-bit OUI field of the former into just one byte....

with less than 256 OUIs currently registered to TI, i could probably do this already....

but in general, it would be very useful information to have in any event....

  • Hi. I'll need to look into if we can release this information.
  • Hi,

As far as I know all CC13xx and CC26xx devices use the same prefix (00:12:4B) for the mac address
  • thanks hector.... that's what i've observed as well....

with 2^40 possible mac addresses having the 00:12:4B prefix, that should probably last a while :-)

in our case (where we have a "closed" system that exclusively uses TI devices), knowing this sort of information does allow for further power optimizations by compressing packets....

in general, the mapping of interest to us is from a *specific TI device (family)* to one/more prefixes.... the inverse of this mapping (prefix to a set of TI devices) is *not* needed; and indeed, this may include some devices that are not yet public....

i'll mark the issue as "resolved", but with that hope that if a *second* prefix is ever used with the cc13xx/cc26xx family (due to it's overwhelming penetration in the market!!!!!) that TI would simply announce that fact....
