Why CC1101 for this task? For MBUS I would strongly recommend using CC13xx with the WMBUS stack (http://www.ti.com/tool/wmbus) Could you give some background for the question?

As far as I know we have only looked at the phy for CC1101 for KNX (e2e.ti.com/.../16367 )

They were already using CC1101.
I will try to understand if is possible to migrate to CC13xx
