CCS/LAUNCHXL-CC1312R1: XDS110 firmware upgrade issues, CCS9 and UniFlash have different ideas of which firmware is the latest

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-CC1312R1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I am working with the newest CC1312R1 LaunchPads and there seems to be an issue between what the latest version of firmware is for UniFlash 5.0.0.2289 and CCS 9.1.0.

When I attempt a debug with CCS 9.1.0 I am prompted to update the XDS110 firmware.

When I go back to use UniFlash to either erase the chip or upload firmware UniFlash wants to update the XDS110 firmware again.

It seems that there is something about one wanting to downgrade what the other upgraded...

I am on a MscOS operating system, MacOS Mojave 10.14.6

Message from UniFlash 5.0.0.2289

Could I get a little clarification on what the best course of action is? I really hate to keep upgrading firmware as it will be troublesome if the upgrade fails one of the times, not to mention I am wearing out the XDS110 flash each time it upgrades again.

  • In your case I think it will be solved by installing the latest version of UniFlash (v5.1.0). This was released yesterday but for one or the other reason the download page has not yet been updated. Hopefully the link from the product page (Get Software) will be updated within short, in the meantime you could try this link: http://www.ti.com/tool/download/UNIFLASH.

  • Hi Øyvind,

Thank you this resolves the issue!

I now have 5.1.0.2397 (on MacOS Mojave 10.14.6) installed.  UniFlash is no longer fighting with CCS9 to downgrade the XDS110 firmware.

I did not expect a newer version to be released so quickly, I just downloaded this 5.0.0.2289 the other day.
