CC1312R: CC1312 for China

Part Number: CC1312R

Hi,

there seem to be a few different frequency bands that could be used in China for short range device. Most common are the 433MHz band and 779MHz to 787MHz band (if I am reading the standard correctly). We have a design based on the CC1312 already for the US and EU that we want to now adapt to the Chinese market. The device description on the home page states "Flexible Sub-1 GHz radio supporting industry standard frequency bands (315 MHz, 433 MHz, 868 MHz, 900 MHz, and more) to meet the industrial needs" but in the datasheet I see no reference to the lower frequency bands.

Q1) Can we use the CC1312r for the Chinese market?

Q2) If yes, have you done any testing towards the Chinese requirements?

Q3) Which of the frequency bands do you recommend for China in that case?

Best Regards

Peter

  • Hi,

A1) Yes, CC1312R can be used for China (779 to 787 MHz). However, the radio settings for specific physical layer parameters have not been fully finalized.

    A2) Yes

A3) The frequency depends on how you classify your product. The China regulatory department divides the Short-Range-Devices into 14 categories. What is your application ?

  • Hi Richard,

excellent news! Our products consist of a gateway that collects data from our sensors and configures those sensors as well. Sensors are temperature sensors, IR detectors etc. So residential, Commercial and light industry kind of static monitoring sensors. Low data rate/infrequent communication is the use case, currently we are using 30kbps data rate.

Preferrably we want to avoid the 433MHz-band since the redesign will be quite big (especially for the antenna). 868MHz band would be awesome if we can use for China as well (I see that it is listed as usable under Radio Control devices for civilian purposes although we would have to back off the Power to 7dBm. So either that band or the 779MHz to 787MHz band are on our wish list.

Do you have any input based on that? Primary goal is of course low risk so if we have to go for 433MHz then that is what we will do.

  • Hi Peter,

According to doc: Rep. ITU-R SM.2153-7

Provisions and technical parameters requirements for SRDs in China.

Radio control devices for civilian purposes:

    • Operating frequency bands (MHz): 314 to 316, 430 to 432, 433 to 434.79
    • Radiated power limit: 10 mW (e.r.p.)
    • Maximum occupied bandwidth: 400 kHz
    • Operating frequency bands (MHz): 779 to 787 Radiated power limit: 10 mW (e.r.p.)

  • Hi Richard,

yes that is my understanding as well!

So to finalize this, can you confirm that CC1312r actually supports 779 to 787MHz operation? Is there any reference-design for operation at these frequencies?

  • Hi,

    Amendment to my previous posts.

CC1312R can support 779 to 787 MHz operation. However, the radio settings for specific physical layer parameters have not been fully finalized.

Please send a PM, regarding your application and expected volumes for this band.

    Regards,

       Richard
