LAUNCHXL-CC1352R1: Is it necessary for reading the primary IEEE MAC address

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-CC1352R1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MIOTY, CC1352R, LPSTK-CC1352R, UNIFLASH

Hi team,

I have bought two CC1352R LaunchPad(LPSTK-CC1352R) to test MIOTY. Do I really need to also buy a 50$ LaunchPad Development Kit(LAUNCHXL-CC1352R1) only to read primary IEEE MAC address with UniFlash? Connecting with the SimpleLink Starter app over Bluetooth also shows several parameters and MAC addresses, but I am not sure, if one of them is the IEEE MAC address.
Do you know, if it's possibly to read out the Primary IEEE Address over the app in the future? I think it's kind of big effort to have a 50$ hardware kit, only to read out a 8-byte value.

Another big plus would be, if the MIOTY firmware image is directly available in the StarterLink App:

Currently, I need to download a windows-software, which contains a binary, which i then need to load on the a android smartphone. So it's kind of annoying.
It would be really convenient, when there is also a "MIOTY Example" in the "OFF-CHIP OAD IMAGES".

Beat Regards,
Tom Liu

  • Hello Liu,

I will reach out to the mobile app team and see if this is a possibility, to include the image in the app.

as for the IEEE address, I'm not sure if the app exposes this, but there is a characteristic available for it somewhere from my memory (so you should be able to read it on LightBlue app)

    Regards,
