Hi forum!

I am interested in using antenna diversity in my application and I was wondering if there is a way to use the Antenna diversity patch with legacy long range mode or simple link long range mode.

I don't think so. If you look at the required settings for antenna diversity it requires

RF_Mode RF_prop =
{
    .rfMode = RF_MODE_PROPRIETARY_SUB_1,
    .cpePatchFxn = &rf_patch_cpe_genfsk,
    .mcePatchFxn = &rf_patch_mce_genfsk_ant_div_pqt,
    .rfePatchFxn = &rf_patch_rfe_genfsk_ant_div,
};

and LRM needs:

RF_Mode RF_prop =
{
    .rfMode = RF_MODE_PROPRIETARY_SUB_1,
    .cpePatchFxn = &rf_patch_cpe_lrm,
    .mcePatchFxn = 0,
    .rfePatchFxn = &rf_patch_rfe_lrm
};

Meaning that we don't have a RFE patch that supports both diversity and LRM.

That what I'm aware of. The person responsible for the patches is currently on vacation meaning that I'm not able to double check at the moment.

The LRM is designed to be able to decode data with a very low SNR. Meaning that at the sensitivity limit it's not possible to select the best antenna based on preamble/ RSSI since this will be random if correct or not. The reason to choose LRM is typically the sensitivity, if the sensitivity is not needed, a different mode should most likely be selected. Meaning that antenna diversity and LRM is not something that is going to be implemented.

This is great.

I can now benefit from FEC and antenna diversity at the same time.

This solves my problem and enhances my performance a lot.

Thumbs up.

Can I configure the antenna switching input to RF switch to the GPIO of my choice or is it hard coded?

I just realized the MCE settings can either have Antenna diversity or CC1101 FEC and I cannot have both.

Is my understanding right?

I want both FEC and Antenna Diversity.
