CC1310: trouble in distance coverage compared the 15.4 stack vs the SimplyLink stack

Part Number: CC1310

we have one of your products in a production line. Type CC1310. So far I have around 10k devices utilising this in field and we are about to launch next production batch however we are facing instability problems on the wireless section so I put a dedicated firmware team of mine on the topic to investigate

the return is quite alarming and I am seeking help from TI to support us

we are using the CC1310 for a battery operated wireless transmission of sensor data to a gateway also enabled with CC1310
we have external antennas, checked with laboratory on RF transmission efficiency and we are 95% of maximum ability to be radiated in air -> is not a electrical issue
we are using the TI stack 15.4 and operating mode is point to point at 50kbps transmission speed
laboratory setup is working absolutely fine
now when entering application RSSI goes down with distance (expected) and we face a cutoff of transmission at -80dB
repeatable as we tried

1/ on different sets of devices to avoid tolerance/electrical issues

2/ also used TI launchpad demo units (we have 10 of those) to double check. is the same result either way we go
now using the SimplyLink protocol democode of yours we easily make up to -109dB

first conclusion from my team was that the 15.4 stack has some substantial drawback in distance coverage. it became more aware as we are currently rolling out in US in grocery stores and naturally have to cover larger distances. Indoor we hardly make the 20-30m
Countercheck: we have been installing the democode of SimplyLink and 15.4 on the Launchpads and face the same differences
