WL1835MOD: WL1835MODGI vs WL1835MODGB: concrete difference?

Part Number: WL1835MOD
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: WL1835, WL1837MOD

Team,

Can you please provide the detailed/concrete  difference between WL1835MODGI and WL1835MODGB?
The datasheet points to two different ETSI certification documents for GI and GB. Both document mention 2.4Gh and GB only.
What does this Grade 31 or grade 35 certification refers to concretely?

The device nomenclature mentions 5 GHz for GI. Why?
WL1835 is anyway only suppose to support 2.4Ghz.

What is the concrete difference between the two and the use case they address?
Please answer in a way that purchaser as well can easily understand the difference and assess if it can be used in their use case.

Thanks in advance!

A.

  • Hi AnBer,

    WL18MODGB series -> 2.4GHz only

    WL18MODGI series -> 2.4GHz and 5GHz

    There is no variant of WL8 modules called WL1835MODGI. Only WL1835MODGB exists. Try going on TI.com and searching for WL1835MODGI and you won't find anything.

    Within the WL18MODGB series, there are different variants:

    1. WL1801MODGB (test grade 01) - one antenna, wifi (2.4GHz) only
    2. WL1805MODGB (test grade 05) - two antennas, wifi (2.4GHz) only
    3. WL1831MODGB (test grade 31) - one antenna, wifi and bluetooth (2.4GHz)
    4. WL1835MODGB (test grade 35) - two antennas, wifi and bluetooth (2.4GHz)

    Hope this helps,

    Seong

  • Seong,

    Thanks!

    Ok I understand now. Only WL1837MOD exist with GI redf as it is the only one for 5GHz WIFI:
