WL1831: Module has narrow temperature range

Part Number: WL1831

Hi Champs,

WL1831 can operate up to -40C (i.e. Industrial temperature), whereas at module level (i.e. WL1831MOD) can only operate up to -20C. Which circuit/part limits the temperature performance?

Do notice that only WiLink 8 modules that support 5GHz, can meet -40C industrial temperature. Why?

Hi Kien,

The WL1831MOD's operating temperature is different because of the operating temperature's of the components internal to the module.

The same reason for the difference with 5GHz WL8 modules.

May I know what are the components that limit the operating temperature?

And, is it possible for my customers to design a single-band module which can operate at -40 oC?

Hi kien,

Only the dual-band modules can operate from -40C.
