CC3100: Getting -340 error while connecting to https server

Hi AkhiG,

The -340 error refers to a SL_ESEC_HANDSHAKE_FAILURE. This means that something in your HTTPClient configuration is incorrect. Are you able to connect to your server without using the HTTP library?

The same thing is working on ethernet. I just checked the logs and found something. Please check this screenshot.

I am getting this Handshake error. I am not able to put full wireshark log because it's an old one.  I checked on internet and found this link which is saying something about cipher suits.

Did you try flashing the CA certificate used by your server on the CC3100?

Yes Jacob. It's happening when we create TLS using http library and I cross checked it. There is not issue with certificate.

Hi Akhi,

Did you say that you are able to connect to your server without using the HTTP library? Can you try the SSL example and adapt it to point to your server? Are you able to successfully connect without running into the -340 error?

I have tried and it's not working with that too. I also tried on ethernet and it's working fine on ethernet project as it uses wolfssl underneath.

Hey Akhi,

When you fail to connect to your server without the HTTP client library, what error do you see? Do you know where this is being generated? 

Also, make sure to use the latest service pack for the CC3100.

Hi Jacob,

I did some research and found it is something to the cipher suits. The server is not accepting the cipher suits available in cc3100.

Is there any way to add more cipher suits into the firmware?
