WL1807MOD: AP whitelist behaivior

Part Number: WL1807MOD

Hello WiFi expert,

I refered Wlink8  WLAN Feature guid , https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/swru423a/swru423a.pdf.

In 5.10.2 Whitelist,  It describes

Whitelist refers to a list of MAC addresses from which connection or acknowledgment is permitted.

Use a whitelist to allow only particular and defined MAC addresses for WLAN connection.

All MAC addresses that are defined and placed in a specific folder can be accessed; connection will not be established to MAC addresses that are not specified.

This can be used in addition to other security measures.

Here is my quesitons.

1)  When I change to enable/disable the whitelist funciton.  Do I need to restart the AP function?

2)  When I modify the whitelist  listing , do I need to restart the AP fucntion?

3)  Can I confirm , it is nesesarry to be listed in Whitelist even for the new addtional STA by WPS .

  • Hello Fujinaka san,

When I change to enable/disable the whitelist funciton.  Do I need to restart the AP function?

Yes, in order to enable/disable this functionality, the AP must be restarted.

When I modify the whitelist  listing , do I need to restart the AP fucntion?

Personally, I have always restarted the AP whenever I make changes to this. However there is a command line tool called "hostapd_cli". The documentation on this tool is sparse and I often find it to be incorrect. There are a few commands to be aware of.

If you have the hostapd configured to deny unless in accept list, then use these commands

$ hostapd_cli accept_acl SHOW          -- This command shows the list in the accept list

$ hostapd_cli accept_acl ADD_MAC <ma:ca:dd:re:ss:xx> -- This command add the device to the accept list

$ hostapd_cli accept_acl DEL_MAC <ma:ca:dd:re:ss:xx> -- This command deletes the device to the accept list

If you have the hostapd configured to accept unless in deny list, then replace 'accept_acl' with 'deny_acl' and the rest is the same.

it is nesesarry to be listed in Whitelist even for the new addtional STA by WPS .

I have not tested this, but I would imagine that this is necessary.
