WL1837MOD: Rx continuous test giving unexpected frequency peak

We are performing WL18XX Rx continuous testing using the below mentioned commands, but we get a peak at 4.824GHz

calibrator wlan0 plt power_mode on

calibrator wlan0 wl18xx_plt tune_channel 1 0 0

calibrator wlan0 wl18xx_plt start_rx ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

calibrator wlan0 wl18xx_plt get_rx_stats

We would like to know how in 2.4GHz band testing gives a peak at 4.824GHz freq and why is this happening? We understand something is wrong., need your support in understanding what has gone wrong and how & where to assess the issue?

Can you tell us how to fix this?

We are using the default INI in release R8.7_SP3. Hope this information helps.

Ensure you are using WL1837MOD_INI_FCC_CE_JP INI.

Try changing the following parameter in the INI file to 02:

NumberofAssembledAnt5   = 02

Hi Seong,

Thanks for the suggestion. We tried the same and it helps. Please clarify the below queries also.

1) Can you please let us know what is the exact implication by doing the mentioned modification? What is causing the issue if the modification is not done?

2) We are using two dual band antennas (for ANT1 and ANT2). Is it mandatory to have the parameter changed as 'NumberofAssembledAnt5 = 02' in this case in software?

Hi Thomas,

The 2nd harmonic from the 2.4GHz is coupling on the TX of the 5GHz. In order to suppress it, the 5GHz switch must be put in the 0,0 state to increase isolation. This is enabled by the FW if NumberofAssembledAnt5 = 02.

Thanks for the clarification.

Hope it is not a newly found issue. If it is an internal interference coupling issue, does this issue has got validated and released. If yes, from which version this fix has got released. Can you please share the version details?

This fix was implemented a while back from FW v8.2.0.0.222.
