WL18XX-CERTIFICATION: CE DoC - FW 8.9.0.0.88

Part Number: WL18XX-CERTIFICATION
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: WL1837MOD

Hello everyone,

When talking about "builds" I refer to what's available on git:
git.ti.com/.../

In the R8.8 Release Note, 8.9.0.0.85 is defined as R8.8
https://software-dl.ti.com/ecs/WiLink8/R8_8/release_notes_R8_8.html

For said version, a DoC is available as well:
http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/forms/self_cert_export.html?prod_no=WL18MODGI_Cert_Reports_5_20_00_00.zip&ref_url=http://software-dl.ti.com/ecs/ECS_CERTIFICATION/WILINK/5_20_00_00&_ticdt=MTY1NTExMTA3NHwwMTgwYjc0ZTIyMzkwMDA5YWRjMjI2NGQ5NTYwMDUwNzMwMDNjMDZiMDBiZDB8W29iamVjdCBPYmplY3Rd

Now for my question:
Are there declarations available for builds 86+?
Or is there some reference which proves that build 86+ still are considered R8.8?

Thank you,
Philipp

  • Philipp,

The FW is not the WL8 driver. The release note highlights that the R8.8 Driver was validated using the FW v8.9.0.0.85.

    BR,

    Seong

  • Okay, thank you!
I've found out that the driver version is R8.7_SP3. I could only find DoCs for R8.8 and R8.7_SP2 though. Could you please link me towards the R8.7_SP3 one?

    Thanks again,
    Philipp

  • Hi Philipp,

I'm not sure where I could dig up and find that particular one. In any case, the previous DoCs are not valid as new CE standards that are now required have been tested for and applied to the WL18MODGI grant.

    Please update to R8.8.

    Thanks,

    Seong

  • Hello, does that mean that the document for  R8.7_SP3 does not exist? Is our only option to update to 8.8 with your second statement as 8.7 SP3 would not be valid regardless, why is that? What changed from that to 8.8?

  • Nathan,

I have looked through all of our DoCs for the WL1837MOD and yes, a DoC for R8.7_SP3 does not exist.

The latest DoC was updated accordingly with the new CE standards which includes:

    1. EN 301489-1 V2.1.1 update to V2.2.3
    2. EN 300328 V2.1.1 update to V2.2.2
    3. Change from "EN 60950-1:2006+A11:2009+A1:2010+A12:2011+A2:2013" to "EN 62368-1:2014+A11:2017"

To test for these new standards, R8.8 was used, so your only option is to update to R8.8 in order to leverage the module's CE certification.

    BR,

    Seong
