WL1837MOD: What does PN drift mean?

Part Number: WL1837MOD

In the latest firmware changelog one can read:

PN drift observed during recovery causing long disconnection periods.

Can someone explain what this actually mean? I am not familiar with what "PN" means in a WiFi context?

Also, does "recovery" in this context refer to writing 1 to /sys/kernel/debug/ieee80211/phy0/wlcore/start_recovery, or does it mean anything else?

  • "PN" stands for Wi-Fi packet number. "Recovery" refers to the "Recovery Mechanism"  implemented in WiLink8 driver. It is designed to increase system robustness and help it recover  in certain situations.

"writing 1 to /sys/kernel/debug/ieee80211/phy0/wlcore/start_recovery" is simply a way to simulate recovery.  In normal operational mode recovery is initiated automatically.
