WL1837MOD: Default Bluetooth Power Levels and How to modify them

Hi TI Team,

I am using WL1837MOD in our device. I am using the BTS and XML files in this link 1837_BT_Calibration for the module. I have the queries below. Please help me in addressing them.

1. What are the default settings for bluetooth power levels?

2. How to change this default settings and use the configurations of our choice.

Hi Yeshwanth,

I recommend getting the BTS, XML, and ILI files from here. This page highlights the purpose of each file and provides a link to an application note that covers the HCI commands. Power levels should be able to be adjusted using those commands.

Thanks for pointing me to the link. Can you tell me what the default bluetooth power levels would be or how to calculate the values using those files? I would highly appreciate any help from your team.

Hi Yeshwanth,

The default power should be 7 dBm. This app note goes into details on the HCI commands and how to configure them.

This app note covers the method for configuring the BTS file.

Hi Dylan, Thanks for the info and documentation.. I will have a look at how to configure the file. Can you tell me if the bluetooth's power level would change at run-time when the WL1837MOD establishes/actively communicates with a bluetooth device?

Yes, I would believe the FW would adjust this accordingly. However, let me discuss with some of our SW engineers to double confirm. I will get back to you end of business tomorrow.

Hey Yeshwanth,

Confirmed that the FW will adjust this accordingly for the BT protocol. I also wanted to make a small correction to the default power. 7 dBm applies to one of the configurations for the TX power, you can find the others in the DS:
