Hi,
From the TI forums I get to know that CC3235 supports only TLS1.0.
Is there a timeline by when TLS1.2 will be supported on these devices?
Is there any other device from TI that supports TLS1.2 now or in the near future?
Regards,
Vasanth

Hi Vasanth,
TLS 1.2 is supported for sockets (network communication) but for EAP security (WPA2-EAP) is supported TLS 1.0 only. That means you need to know for what purpose you need TLS 1.2. If you need TLS 1.2 for socket communication, usage of CC3235 is perfectly fine.

Hi,
We need the device supporting TLS1.2 for EAP security.
Do you recommend any other device which supports EAP security with TLS1.2 ?

Hi Vasanth,
TI does not have similar device like CC3235 with TLS 1.2 EAP support at present time. As I know TI have no plan to add EAP TLS 1.2 for CC3220/CC3235 devices. Their statement is that current devices does not have enough resources for implementation of this feature. I have few times discussion about this issue with TI employees, but to be honest they was not able convince me.
I think EAP with 1.2 is possible at WiLink8 and upcoming CC330x devices. But these devices are different "class" than CC32xx.

Hi Vasanth,
I am checking internally about this issue, I will get back to you on the results I find.

Hi Vasanth,
Currently there is no plan to add TLS 1.2 EAP support to the CC32xx devices, because the hostap version currently used on those devices is an older version which does not support this.
Concerning the Wilink8, this is a transceiver device which has the connected host manage the hostap and supplicant, hence it can support TLS 1.2 EAP if you have the latest version of hostap on the host. But yes this is a different class of devices that the CC32xx. The CC33xx devices are similar in this fashion, the host should support this.
