TPC and DFS controlled by host processor or 1271 / 1273

Hi,

Once 802.11h/SpectrumManagement is enabled for a 127x operated as access point, is the TPC and DFS controlled by software in the host processor, or is it controlled within the 127x radio? (can the 127x device decide to move to a different channel once a radar signal is detected, or does it provide information regarding presence of a radar signal to the host which then arranges with the client to move to a different channel)

Hi Matt,

Sorry for the delay in the answer, we have AP support for 1271/3 chip set as part of the mac802.11 open source driver, however currently it supports 802.11bgn band and it not supporting A band, that is we don't have DFS support in AP mode.

I think we do have future plan to support DFS in A band AP mode, however i don't yet have the information if the implementation done in Driver or firmware.

Thanks for the info. Please clarify, you don't support DFS for 802.11a or n in AP mode? Is there suport in client mode?

Hi Matt,

DFS channels are only relevant for A band. in addition DFS channel is supported in Client (Station) mode, however not yet supported in AP mode.

Hi Matt,

As a station we are only passive when it comes to 802.11h.
Supporting this feature requires logic both in software and firmware, however most of the logic is in the SW and the way it configures the firmware.
