CC3200: Building a wifi based audio communication system

Hey Everyone,

I am trying to better understand if the CC3200 can be the base of a hardware based "phone" that will enable two remote users, each connected to a local Wi-Fi network, to

speak with one another (in full duplex) , like you would do on a normal mobile phone or Skype audio call.

If so, what am I looking at here, system wise, beside of course the CC3200?

Note that CC3200 is a very old device that is not recommended for new designs. Instead, please check CC3220/30/35 (for which you can find the updated audio plugin) or the latest CC3301 device.

Note that these examples where showcasing audio (it was targeted mostly for 1 directional audio but I believe it should support bi-directional) where your use case of a voice call typically has different characteristics - such as lower bandwidth but higher sensitivity to latencies and jitters which where not the focus of reference design.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with any voice related example from TI.

If you are willing to connect a processor running linux as the host, you may be able to find a voice over IP example and in such case it will probably work with our Linux attached (transceiver) solutions such as https://www.ti.com/product/WL1837MOD or CC3301.
