CC3301: Tool for testing BLE in FCC pre-scan

Hi,

I am working on a Linux device that uses CC3301 both for WiFi and BLE. We're going to need to take our prototype for FCC pre-scans and I'm looking for software tools that might help.

I have been pointed towards the "Calibrator" tool, which works well for WiFi, but I don't see any documentation for BLE support. Are there any equivalent tools for BLE that allow us to transmit at a set duty cycle (without JTAG access)?

Hi Kieran,

What kind of signals or testing are your trying to transmit? I would look into the HCI VS guide and see if there is a command that accomplishes the transmission you are looking for. The guide is found in the references portion of the User Guide that can be found in the SDK.

Hi Kieran,

I think Rogelio refers to this package: https://www.ti.com/tool/download/CC33XX-LINUX-AM335/0.4.2.0 . The UG claims that hcitool, btmgmt, and bluetoothctl tools can all work, the question is really which one has the option to set transmission pattern that you require. a quick search produced this guide, but I am not 100% sure it is fully applicable as-is to the cc3301https://connectivity-staging.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/s3fs-public/2018-10/BLE%20Regulation%20Test%20in%20Linux%20v1_0.pdf

Rogelio - do you think this guide should apply?

Hi Michael,

You are correct

There are also hci commands that can help you set TX power and such which you can find in the references section of the user guide.

Thanks for your reply.

We'll need the ability to continuously transmit (near 100% duty cycle), but I don't see a quick way to do that. Seems like we'll need to write our own software to achieve that. Is that right?
