CC3200: CC3200 cannot work with cisco catalyst 9120AX

Hi,

we found that our purduct which has cc3200 installed inside, cannot work with cisco catalyst 9120AX, same product can work with other AP and no issue at all, and we have also proved that cisco catalyst 9120AX can work with other wifi device. we also try to use CC3235 product to connect to same cisco catalyst 9120AX AP and fail too. I'm wondering if TI can help to double check if CC3200 and CC3235 can work with cisco catalyst 9120AX with no issue.

the images attached are what i got from console, for your reference.

so far, we are still trying to figure out what's going on here, and our customer is trying to work with cisco guys, hope to have update in these days.

Hi,

You are using a very old servicepack for CC3200, not sure about CC3235.

It is hard to tell why it is failing to connect but I assume it has something to do with the Wi-Fi6 (11ax).

Do you have an option to capture an air sniffer?

service pace of CC3200 is servicepack_1.0.1.6-2.6.0.5.bin, and sp_4.3.0.5_3.1.0.5_3.1.0.18.bin for cc3235.

unfortunately, i'm not familiar with sniffer...

i'll do more test with customer today, hopefully can have more info to privide.

Hi,

An air sniffer is really mandatory to understand what is going on.

The SP for CC3200 is really old (few years back) and I recommend updating it.

The latest is v1.0.1.15, here https://www.ti.com/tool/download/CC3200SDK/1.5.0

CC3235 is also outdated and the latest is sp_4.13.0.2_3.7.0.1_3.1.0.26 and can be found here https://www.ti.com/tool/SIMPLELINK-CC32XX-SDK as part of the SDK.

Since both SPs are very old, I suggest to first reproduce it on the latest since many fixes were applied.

eventually, IT guy turn off wifi 6, make only wifi 4 available, and do some strange setting, which they don't understand why they make it works, now cc3200 can access server via 9120AX.

Thanks for the update Peng.

It is probably some kind of an IOP with the Wi-Fi 6 AP or a setting in Wi-Fi 6.

As an example, if Wi-Fi 6 is set to disable 11b or to 5GHz only, then it would not connect.
