CC3235SF: Cloud OTA for Github seems broken due using new Root CA?

Part Number: CC3235SF

simplelink_cc32xx_sdk_5_10_00_02

We recently found CC3235 Cloud OTA failing to download OTA file from api.github.com. It seems the CA root is changed to AAA Certificate Service, instead of using  Digicert High Assurance EV Root CA and DigiCert Global Root CA.

We use the RootCACerts_GitHub.pem and multi_root_ca_bundle.pem from previous post, there is wrong CA error shown as below

we download AAACertificateServices.crt from below link and covert to .pem format, then it can connect to api.github.com server to download ota file successfully. Is there a way that TI could support on this?

  • support how?

in the next release of the SDK we will add the updated root ca.

we can’t be responsible to changes in github and dropbox. in fact we are recommending using other services that are more reliable for IOT devices. Github and Dropbox are only provided as reference.

since sdk 6.10 we support the ota_if that enables setting 2 ota servers (a main one and backup) to reduce the chance the ota update get broken.
