WL1837MODCOM8I: WL1873 / CC2564 Bluetopia/Controller Bug

Part Number: WL1837MODCOM8I

Tool/software:

Hello,

We are working on an issue that we have traced down to the Bluetopia Server running on a Linux platform (OMAP2) connected to either CC2564B and/or WL1837MODGIMOCR.

The issue is as follows: The radio is reset multiple times via the interface. The CC2564B and/or WL1837MODGIMOCR are placed in reset via the HCI_RESET command.

However, when booting back up (full reinitialization including the Service Pack), we sometimes see a failure. The device is initializing but commands stop coming from the HOST which is the Linux processor running the Bluetopia Server.

Below you can see the HCI capture. The device consistently hangs in the same place - when it is issuing the LE Rand command. It stops sending anything.

After about 5s a recovery mechanism restarts the whole process again, which most of the time works, but sometimes fails.

You can see an example of a couple of failures, followed by a success, and also a successful flow by itself.

The Bluetopia application should apparently be receiving an event complete for the Write Default Link Policy Settings  command (which we don't see go out from host in the first place, perhaps it's internally generated).

This is very consistent. it fails at the exact same spot and we have many captures showing the same flow. We're happy to share capture files.

Our customer has spent some time previously debugging this issue and discussed it with Rogelio. We want to provide more details and see if the issue can be resolved.
