AM18xx wi-fi EVM

I have the TMDXEVMWIFI1808L-A. I do not want to use my laptop to explore the wireless capabilities. (I have no serial port). I prefer to use my phone.

I have powered up the EVM using the linux SD card. Looks good, i get the standard menus.

From Here this is what i want to do:

1. Connect the EVM to a wi-fi network

I follow the instructions on the wiki and scan for networks. I double click the network i want to connect to and get the pop up. At this point i run into a problem, i cannot scroll to the end of the GUI to hit the "ADD" key after i enter the required fields. How do i scroll down? Is attaching a mouse the answer, or does the GUI need a scroll bar?

I assume if i can get past this point, then i can connect to the wi-fi and have the EVM act as a station. Is this correct?

From there i want to do 2 things:

1. I would like to browse the www using the keyboard plugged into the EVM USB port, i think once the wi-fi is conected this should be easy.

 2. I would like the EVM to connect to my phone, from where i can either browse wwww OR stream audio or video from the EVM to the phone or vice versa using wi-fi. Does the EVM have a wi fi name that will show up on my phone when it scans? Has anybody tried this type of Demo

i would like to get these demos working ASAP

    Hi Derek,

    Regarding with GUI problem I will direct the question to the AM18x forum and I hope it can be answered overthere.

    You can also establish the connection to the acess point using the command line interface as explained in http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/AM18x_Wireless_Connectivity_Demo#Connect_to_non_secured_WLAN_network under the section "Manually" down the page.

    Once you are able to connect to the access point you will have the EVM acting as a station.

     

    Connecting to a phone:

    If your phone supports WiFi tethering then your EVM as a station can connect to the phone (which is acting as an access point) and browse the web via the phone's cellular connection to the ISP.

    If you want to browse the web on your phone through the EVM over WLAN while the EVM is acting both as an access point and as a station, that is not possible right now. This feature will ne supported in one of the releases coming next year.

    Hi Derek,

    As for the WLAN GUI, assuming you are working with SDK5.02, then when you try to connect to Access Point please tap the upper side of the window, that should turn the window to full size and then you will get a scroll bar at the right side, sliding that scroll bar down will get you to the ADD button which is located at the bottom of that window.

    Hi Eyal,

     

    Thank you for the update, i am unable to get a scrol bar on that GUI. i have however been able to re size the window (with considerable dificulty) to get access to the ADD button.

     

    I have managed to get the app working and browse the www using the EVM, a very positive result. Looks really good.
