CC3351: LTE+GPS

Hi,

CC3351 is a WiFi+BT combo "radio" chip. It is not a MCU. You need external MPU or MCU to control it. Nothing prevent you to connect to this MPU/MCU a LTE module. At market are even LTE modules with build in GNNS (GPS). Choice is up to you, you are a designer.

TI does not manufacture LTE or GPS chipsets or devices but at market is many such manufacturers.

I think that this information is not correct because the evaluation board TCIEVMK2X works with the DSP TMS320C66X and has LTE implemented with SIM.

could you clarify this for me?

TCIEVMK2X is EOL for long time from this reason I am not able find any documentation for this board. But where do you see at that schematic LTE module/modem manufactured by TI?

I don't see anything useful at that schematic for such application at present time. What exactly you need to?

If you need implement LTE+GNSS into your devices and we are talking about quantities up to 100 000 device, it make sense to use LTE module from manufactures like Quectel, Simcom, Fibicom, U-blox...

If you want to manufacture higher quantity of device it make sense to contact manufacturers of LTE SoC like a Qualcomm, MediaTek...

I have already discussed this issue in another forum. And a tech support member answered me with the different products that texas sells with LTE. So I ask you to agree and tell me what is the truthful information, because there is no communication between the members of the forums, and this wastes the customer's time and generates doubts. So I ask for a solution.

So, what I want is to program a DSP with LTE, and to be able to implement GPS and the other interfaces (BLUETOOTH and WIFI)

I agree that some some TI component can be used for LTE connectivity and GNSS. But I am pretty sure that TI does not provide ready-to-use LTE solution.

Maybe you not realise how many things need to be done when you implement LTE at wireless SoC. This is job for at least for 20 people team and many years experiences. If you want do this  by yourself, than good luck. Even manufacturers of GSM/LTE modules did not do LTE implementation by yourself and they use solutions from companies like Mediatek, Qualcomm, Intel.

If you say me what exactly you need to, I can suggest you solution. But I am pretty sure if you will try implement LTE at DSP level by yourself, you will fail. I am not a TI employee, but 3rd party developer with 15+ years experienced with wired and wireless communication. But if you don't want trust me, it is your choice.

I have asked a number of technical questions and none have been answered.
I am already working with an integrated solution from the manufacturer Telit Cinterium, but the drawback is that these integrated solutions do not allow you to modify their source code.

So the interest in programming a DSP or MCU is to optimise my application and obtain a higher performance and to be able to implement other functionalities apart from LTE.
