CC3301: CC3301 Custom Board Range Test and Packet Error Data.

Part Number: CC3301

Tool/software:

Hi Ti Experts,

We have developed a custom hardware using CC3301 Wi-Fi - BLE combo chipset and we are now in hardware verification stage. We would like to know your comments on two RF test cases.
Hope you will help us on this, please see the following queries :

1) Using the simple link Wi-Fi tool box on two different PC's with our custom boards connected, is it possible to configure one board as transmitter and other as receiver to measure the range and data packet loss at different distances ?

2) Is there any mobile application available to test range and packet loss between our custom hardware and mobile phone ?

Thanks,
Deepak D.

  • Hi Deepak,

    1) Yes, you can do so since the CC3301 can both transmits or receive data, so I don't see any issue here. A simple setup can be set one device as an AP and the other as a STA, or using RadioTool to have one transmitting (Tx) and the other receiving (Rx).

    2) Sorry but I'm not familiar such applications.

Let me know if I can further assist you.
    Best regards,

    Omri

  • Hi Deepak,

    2) Is there any mobile application available to test range and packet loss between our custom hardware and mobile phone ?

You can use iperf to test the overall throughput, and then measure the RSSI signal between the hardware and phone to check the range.

  • Thanks Sabeeh Khan, I will check.

  • Hi Omri,

Issue now we are facing is the Radio Tool is not working properly.
It has issues in giving commands to the custom hardware.
    Please check the log attached.
