Part Number: CC3220MOD

Tool/software:

Hi

We purchased CC3220MODSF12MOBR modules for our project.

We want to know does this CC3220MODSF12MOBR modules ship with default firmware on it?

we used CC3100MOD modules in our previous project they ships with default firmware where we are communicating with SPI slave port which is connected to STM32.

  • Hi Chandra,

There is no default firmware inside CC3220MOD. CC3220 and  CC3100 are different kind of devices. CC3100 is a network processor (NWP) similarly like a CC3120 or CC3135. But CC3220 is like a CC3200 a NWP + Cortex-M4 application processor (for running your code). CC32xx is a "self-contented" solution which does not need to have additional MCU like your STM32.

If you want to alternative to CC3100MOD we can talk about CC3120MOD or CC3135MOD. For new design you can consider CC33xx devices as well especially if you have enough resources inside your STM32.

  • Hi Jan,

CC3120MODRNMMOBR hope this fits our requirement, and this part ships with default firmware to communicate over SPI.

  • Hi Chandra,

Yes, CC3120MOD is a alternative to your old CC3100MOD. What is a reason why do you swap your module? But be aware that host driver for CC3100 and CC3120 is not same. It works at similar principles but it is not 1:1 compatible.

  • CC3100MODR11MAMOBR is what we decided to go with.
