LAUNCHXL-CC3235SF: Power consumption and transmission issues

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-CC3235SF

Tool/software:

Hi

For measuring power counsmption, We conducted some experiments(with LSI set to 1200 milliseconds):

1. AP with DHCP On

When the 3235EVM connects to the AP, it will get an IP(192.168.0.xxx) from AP. Then we started measuring the current, with an average power consumption of about 193μA. Additionally, the power consumption for data transmission under this AP setting was also as expected.

2. AP with DHCP Off

When the 3235EVM connects to the AP, it will get an IP(172.16.xxx.xxx) from the upstream gateway. Then we started measuring the current, with an average power consumption of about 624uA, sometimes exceeding 1mA. In addition, under this AP setting, the power consumption for data transmission is much higher than in Experiment 1.

Do you have any suggestions for us?

P.S 1 The two experiments mentioned above both used the same AP, only differing in the DHCP settings.

P.S 2 In addition, we have included the NWP log as shown in the following link.

Thanks.

  • Hi

Add more information, we have experienced the worst-case, the idle connect current(no data transmission) exceeding 10mA.

From the image below, it can be seen that in the first 14 seconds, the CC3235 wakes up during the expected LSI interval (1200mS), with an average current of about 865uA. However, in the following 10 seconds, the 3235 is almost always awake, with an average current of about 10mA. Additionally, we have zoom-in this 10-second data for your reference. This situation will be even more severe if data is being transmitted. We also attach this NWP LOG at the link below, and the distance between the 3235 and the AP is about 0.5 meters.
