To TI Experts:

Background:The product is a platform project,the customers need to adjust the antenna gain parameter for different type of machine product to ensure that the EIRP stays within legal limits.And the client software logic cannot be changed.

Problem:After TI's new update to FW,the Antenna Gain setting will not adjust power,it consistent with the actual verification results. Therefore, we are unable to meet the customer's requirement.

Requirement:Re-enable Antenna Gain for power control or provides other solution.

Can you elaborate how you were going to support this platform approach using the ANT_Gain parameter? This will help me identify an alternate solution that may still fit that scheme.

Refer to the previous method.

1.We will set the PowerLimitArray as EIRP limit(The value is equal to the conducted power limit plus the modules antenna gain),and set the ANT_Gain as Negative values of the modules antenna gain.Therefore the final output power is simply the conducted power limit.

2.When the module is installed in the device and the antenna gain increases,the customer will adjust the antenna gain value accordingly to ensure EIRP compliance.

3.Therefore, in addition to IL, a set of power setting parameters that can adjust the power is also needed.

Thanks for the details. Based on the description it sounds like the ANT_GAIN setting isn't ultimately required, but instead it was a parameter that can be easily adjusted to compensate for different antennas used by the antenna. This would avoid having to adjust the full power limit array.

We have thought through these cases and have developed a tool to easily adjust the power limit array based on the ANT_GAIN. So for example, if you have a power limit array that was developed based on an Antenna gain of 2 dBi you can run this tool and input a new antenna gain of 4 dBi which will automatically adjust the power limit array to reduce the TX power back down to maintain the same EIRP level.

Please confirm that this works for you.

Our product serves as a secondary supply for our customer, and their software configuration method can no longer be changed.On the client side, customers will only adjust the antenna gain parameter based on the actual measured antenna gain of the device.So, it's not possible to change the PowerLimitArray.

So we can only stick with the customer's configuration method and add an antenna gain interface for power adjust.

Hi T,

To adjust the the ANT_GAIN the conf.bin must be updated in the Linux host file system and reloaded to the CC3351 device. Can you give details how that is being done?

As Sabeeh from TI team mentioned in the meeting with our customer, TI is under disccusion about update conf.bin without kernel module reloading. If it is implemented, I think it can fulfill above requirement too. More details, maybe you can discuss with Sabeeh.
